En 1987, siguiendo los mismos pasos que lo realizado en 1978, Paul Gambaccini, en base a los resultados de la votación realizada por 50 críticos musicales, publicó la lista de los 100 mejores discos de la historia, y si bien en la primera lista, la de 1978, doscientos eran los discos elegidos, en ambas ocasiones el primer puesto fue a parar al Sgt. Pepper’s de los Beatles, mientras que Dylan también conseguía situarse entre los tres primeros con esa obra maestra llamada Blonde On Blonde.
