La maquinaria, por mucho que el producto ya haya llegado a su fecha de caducidad, debe seguir rodando para seguir dando cuantiosos beneficios a los privilegiados que ostentan los derechos de la marca. Eso siempre que sea posible ya que no todas las marcas son capaces de sobrevivir a esa fecha de caducidad, pero, en el caso que hoy nos ocupa, que no es otro que el de Pink Floyd, el chicle se puede estirar tanto como se quiera que, por mucho que estiremos, nunca acabará saltando por los aires.
Sí, tras el lanzamiento de The Endless River (vinilo que tengo en la estantería de detrás y que, tal como ya advertía Laurent en su momento pocas veces ha sido la que ha rodado), ahora toca sacarse de la chistera este The Later Years, una cajita de lo más mona con una cantidad de material que, tal como pasaba en el caso de las pasadas ediciones que nos obsequió Page hace unos años, había permanecido bajo llave a saber en que armario, y que más abajo, aunque ya hace un par de días son de dominio publico, señalaré.
No está nada mal rescatar y pasar por el chapista todo este material perteneciente a la época en la que Gilmour, Mason y Wright, consiguieron librarse del malo del malo de la película, pero que el tiempo se ha encargado de demostrar, por mucho que viera la luz The Division Bell primero, y Pulse después, que Floyd sin Waters era otra cosa, algo que acabaron entendiendo definitivamente en 1994.
Pero no nos vayamos a 1994 y a unas batallitas ya conocidas de las que cada uno tiene su opinión particular, regresemos a este 2019, y más concretamente al próximo día 29 de noviembre cuando todo lo que se va a señalar a continuación va a ver la luz bajo The Later Years. Abróchense los cinturones ya que vienen curvas y es que la cajita tiene todos los mimbres para hacernos pasar por caja a más de uno. Mientras, seguiremos esperando que llegue el próximo día 2 de octubre para volver a deleitarnos con el ‘Us+Them’ de Roger Waters,
